Message from Wende Tulk, Founder
I love my life. I feel incredibly blessed to have an amazing family, a career I’m passionate about, friends I cherish, and a healthy mind and body.
However, like all of us, I do face challenging times. During those moments, I lean even deeper into the things that bring me peace and balance -
music, movement, and muscle.
When life gets tough, I turn to my fitness routines and weightlifting programs to help me refocus and ground myself. I’ve learned to adjust my lifting
plans to match what I need in those moments, helping me release some of those “messy” emotions and find clarity. In addition to that, I’ve come to
appreciate other somatic practices, including sound baths, cold plunges, and breathwork, which further support my well-being.
Music is another essential tool I use to navigate tough times. Drumming, in particular, has always been a powerful way for me to relax and reconnect
with one of my “happy places.” It lifts my spirit, resets my intentions, and reminds me of my purpose.
I believe I am here to meet and work with as many people as possible. With a lot of laughter, experience, and knowledge in both the weightlifting and
music fields, I’m excited to share these gifts with others to help them find their own balance and strength.

My Vision: What Makes Me Different?
What
sets
me
apart
from
other
personal
fitness
trainers
and
rhythm
facilitators
is
the
perfect
blend
of
knowledge,
fun,
and
positive
energy
that
I
bring
to
everything
I
do.
Throughout
my
life,
I’ve
been
told
that
I
have
an
abundance
of
energy—and
I
truly
do.
I
channel
that
vibrant
energy
into
everything
I
do,
whether
it’s
training
women
with
solid,
results-driven
weightlifting
programs
or
facilitating
lively,
fun
drumming
circles
that
leave
our
central
nervous
systems feeling happier and more balanced.
I
take
pride
in
using
my
energy
and
enthusiasm
to
create
a
positive,
motivating
environment
where
women
can
thrive.
My
goal
is
to
inspire
strength,
joy, and connection through both fitness and music, helping others unlock their full potential while having a great time along the way.
My Journey: A Blend of Experience, Passion, and Community
I’ve
been
teaching
for
over
30
years,
working
in
various
locations
across
the
country,
including
the
Arctic,
Northern
Saskatchewan,
Newfoundland,
Nova
Scotia,
and
for
the
past
20
years
here
in
Ontario.
I’ve
been
fortunate
to
work
with
incredible students and colleagues, which has shaped my career and deepened my understanding of diverse needs.
For
many
years,
I’ve
worked
with
high
school
students
with
varying
disabilities,
which
has
made
me
highly
attuned
to
the
different
challenges
people
face.
This
experience
has
broadened
my
perspective,
allowing
me
to
be
flexible
in
my
approach
and
to
meet
individuals
where
they
are.
In
recognition
of
my
work,
I
was
honored
with
the
Exceptional
Teacher
Award
from
the
OSSTF
District
12
Status
of
Women
Committee
in
2016
and
received
the
Leading
Women
Building
a
Community
Award
in
2017. Building strong, supportive communities is something I deeply value.
I
have
a
deep-rooted
background
in
teaching
and
lifting,
and
for
the
past
15
years,
I’ve
been
delivering
programs
in
personal
fitness
training,
self-defense,
and
drumming.
My
education
includes
a
Bachelor's
Degree
in
Physical
Education,
a
Master’s
Degree
in
Education,
and
various qualification courses.
Achievements:
•
I’ve competed in several powerlifting competitions in the GTA and Niagara regions.
•
I work with clients who have injuries, require accommodations, and come from different ages and fitness levels.
•
I hold a Personal Certification in Physical Fitness from CFES (Canadian Fitness Education Services).
•
I’ve earned my NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) Coaching Theory Levels 1 and 2 in ringette, karate, volleyball, and softball.
•
I earned my first Black Belt in Shoto-Kan Karate in 1986 and have taught women’s self-defense at various facilities for different organizations.
Self-defense
is
a
vital
skill,
and
I
focus
on
teaching
awareness,
assessment,
action,
and
analysis.
It’s
important
to
empower
women
with
the
ability
and
confidence to protect themselves.
My
drumming
career
began
at
5
years
old,
and
I’ve
played
in
various
bands
across
multiple
genres,
including
Rock
and
Roll,
80’s,
Top
40,
and
Blues.
I’m
currently
performing
with
the
Duffin
Band
in
Toronto
and
the
Watts
Up
Band
in
the
Niagara
area.
I
also
lead
drumming
circles
for
both
children
and
adults
throughout
the
province.
Many
participants
have
shared
that
the
drumming
circles
helped
reduce
their
stress
and
improve
their
mood.
The
group participation and rhythmic patterns create a sense of emotional release and belonging.
I’ve
facilitated
drumming
circles
in
local
female
penitentiaries
and
women’s
shelters,
where
the
sessions
have
been
incredibly
successful
and
are
often
a highlight of their programming.
